In general terms, the results of both simulations indicate that NaCa and CaNa exchange, as well as the equilibria with the carbonate and sulfate minerals (calcite and gypsum) are the principal processes that control the composition of groundwater in a coastal alluvial aquifer affected by sea water intrusion.
