Our work makes some important contributions to the literature in the fields of family firms and entrepreneurship. From the point of view of the family firm, our investigation underlines the contingent nature of the entrepreneurial behavior of this type of firm.
First, as a central idea, we can state that the EO of family firms depends on the interaction of variables related to its specific characteristics and the firm’s perception of the external environment. Family firms differ not only in their internal characteristics but also in how they perceive the context in which they operate.
