Procedure
Baseline measurements were obtained at the beginning of the course. Demographic data were obtained from all students as well as their level of familiarity (LOF) with mental illness, mental health knowledge schedule (MAKS), attitudes toward people with schizophrenia (AQ-20), empathy orientation (JSE), and fear and behavioral intentions (FABI) toward people with mental illness. Thetreatment groups participated in the Hearing Voices simulation during Week 2 of the quarter and the SP simulation at a point in the quarter when it integrated well with the theory course schedule. At the end of the quarter, both the treatment and control groups were reassessed on the same four outcome measures. Figure 1 outlines the research procedure. At the end of the quarter, faculty were interviewed to determine the quantity of content delivered to students (theory and clinical).
