ANALYSIS OF ACTIVITIES IN LOGISTICS
PARK
Xinglin Logistics Park, located at Xiamen, a harbor city
in southeast of China, is a typical Integrated Logistics
Park. Due to its location advantage, the transport hub of
railway and highway, Xinglin Logistics Park mainly
offers landway logistics services which include land
transport (road transport, railway transport and
motor-rail multimodal transport), warehousing and
inventory management, distribution, logistics
information processing, logistics audit, logistics system design, professional training and so on.
A function description of Logistics Park is shown in
Fig.2 based on Xinglin Logistics Park. (“Logistics Park”
here in this paper means a typical Integrated Logistics
Park, not a Port Logistics Park or a Bonded Logistics
Park which has special functions). Functions of other
Integrated Logistics Parks in China are almost the same
with Xinglin Logistics Park’s. These logistics activities
fall into four categorized functions: general logistics
activities, fourth party logistics services, related social
services and merchandise exhibiting & wholesaling.“General logistics activities” is the core sub-function,
consisting of basic logistics services such as
warehousing and transportation; “fourth party logistics
services” offering supported services, is the extended
function of Logistics Park; “related social services”
caters for the stuff and equipment in the park;
“merchandise exhibition & wholesaling” aims at
making full use of inventory, so as to add the park’s
economic value.inter-relates are showed in Fig. 4. Each activity is
connected to others according to the cargo flow in each
box. It should be pointed out that some empty trucks,
outputs of warehousing, can also be the inputs of other
activities, like cross docking and distribution. But not all
of those trucks belong to the Logistics Park, some of
them are private.
