With the convergence of big media corporations, new technology has appeared in the market dramatically. Newspapers are now able to display information online and provide services to people across the globe. Television stations can also provide news, radio, and produce movies on screen. However, there are two sides to the coin. With this raise in globalization, causes a decrease in localization. People in a local area may know what’s going on in Taiwan or New York and know nothing what the community is doing. Without the support from a higher company, many local businesses have to close because they can’t compete with the media monopoly. In this paper, I will discuss the issue of media monopolies, taking over local media.
