Based on these objectives two steps are followed for the radar siting based on automation of the process in a GIS environment: (a) collection and processing of the digital base for locating the possible areas and parameterization of obstacles and (b) analyze which areas of the surface are visible from a point and virtual 3D display for reflection of obstacles. A suitable radar site has been selected to install a C-band weather radar as part of a weather radar network in Greece. The selected site satisfied the established objectives and most of the established strategic and local siting criteria.
