The results of the present study showed that, in
fish meal-based practical diets containing 12%
lipid, a dietary concentration of 20 mg a-tocopheryl
acetateykg is sufficient for the normal
growth of juvenile hybrid tilapia. However, a
dietary a-tocopheryl acetate level of 63–206 mg
was required to reduce lipid peroxidation in muscle
and liver. This function would therefore prolong
the post-mortem quality of the fish.
