Third, killing animals is common. Killing animals is not cruel, and acceptable. Animals are commonly killed by humans every day for many reasons such as food, clothing, accessory, and experiment. American people eat 9 billion chickens and 150 million pigs and sheep per year, but we use only 26 million animals for research. We kill pigs for food 1,800 times more than we kill them for the experiment, and we eats chickens more than 340 chickens for each research. Consequently, if killing animals for experiment should be banned, killing animals for food should be banned also because both purposes of killing are for humans’ sake. Even animals also hunt each other. It’s the way nature is; big fish eat little fish. Besides, Humans can kill animals easily because humans seem to have dominion over animals. Animals are not as intelligent as humans and they are not capable of many things like humans are. They also don’t have cognitive ability, language, and moral judgment like humans do. In addition, animals do not have rights, so they are treated differently than humans. According to the Bible in Genesis 1:26: "And God said... let them [human beings] have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." Additionally, religions, such as Jewish, Christian, and Muslim, also allows animal experiments if there is no unnecessary pain. Moreover, many biologists and several of the largest biomedical and health organizations in the United States, such as The American Cancer Society, American Physiological Society, National Association for Biomedical Research, American Heart Association, and the Society of Toxicology, support animal-testing because they view it as a normal thing. This evidences show why killing animals is very common. These examples and evidences explain why animal-testing is not a cruel process.
