South Korea’s LG Chemical’s net profit rises 37% in Q1
According to media reports, South Korea’s LG Chemical posted stronger financial results in the first quarter. The company’s net profit jumped around 37.4% to reach 338 billion won ($298 million) in the first three months of this year from 246 billion won ($214 million) in the same period of 2015. The increase was attributed to higher petrochemical margins amid low oil prices.
Meanwhile, LG Chemical’s operating income also increased 26.5% on the year to 458 billion won ($399 million) while sales fell 0.8% year over year to 4.87 trillion won ($4.23 billion) in the first quarter.
