Christopher Ohman - Sithichai Buala was brought to our home at Maliwan Road, Loei, when he was one week old. His mother was not married and she was not able to take him home to her parents.
When his adoptive father came from Finland to get him, the officials in Loei said we must find his biological father. Dad went to Udorn to ask - because that man was in the army. At the time there was guerilla warfare on the border of Laos, and the military office said this soldier was somewhere in the jungle! There was no way of finding him. Dad phoned a lawyer and got advice. According the Thai Law at the time, if a child's parents were not married the father does not need to agree to the adoption. The mother can decide alone. (The mother, Lamai Buala was staying with a older woman in Loei near the hospital, but her home was in Amphoe Thali.)
We got the address of a lawyer in Udorn who wrote the adoption papers.
Christopher is now a very good musician living and working in Stockholm.
He is married to a Sri Lankan girl who also was adopted as a baby - from Sri Lanka. The have two sons.
I can send some pictures later if you find any relatives.
I hope you can find some information about the mother.
