Carcass characteristics and organ weights are given in Tables 6 and 7. The reduction (P < ,05) in semitendinosus weight due to testosterone treatment may be due to chance because no differences were observed in biceps weight or ribeye area. Testosterone treatment did not influence fat thickness, but it did increase (P < .05) KPH fat. The overall lack of change in carcass characteristics may be expected based on the animal performance and the findings of Matulis et al. (1987). The trend for increased ribeye area from the heifer study was not observed in the cow study.
