The curious boy and fish
One suburb was far away from the crowded town. In the summer time, the weather was very hot especially in April. The plants around the suburb were withering.
Sim was a fifteen-year-old boy who stayed with his parents in the suburb. Behind his house , there were a fruit garden and a big pond. The pond was clean and clear. His parents used the water from the pond for their agriculture. His parents also fed chickens. Sim always fed them with some grain after school.
Sim’s parents were farmers. They were not rich farmers but they had enough since they understood the theory of self-sufficiency.
Sim was the only child of the family. He was diligent and smart. He was beloved by his family, teachers, friends and neighbors.
Sim sometimes was stubborn like the other boys. He liked to play with them. Whenever he wanted to learn something new, he always focused his attention to it.
After doing housework, Sim didn’t go anywhere. He always spent his time with reading books. The books that he liked to read were documentaries, books about animal life, astronomy, mysteries, and adventures. All these books were from the donations to the village’s library named “ Community Library ”
After Sim finished his daily duties, he had lunch and then rested. While he was resting, he had picked up a book. The book in his hands was translated from English. The story was “ A Fish Drowned ”
Sim intently read the introduction. He was excited and wandered how did the fish drown?
The introduction was about the fish that lived without water and became a boy’s pet.
The boy in the story was at the same age as Sim. Once day, he had played around the field until he saw a shallow pond. In the pond, the water was very clear but was low, so the boy could see the bottom evidently. While he was bending down, he saw something was moving in the shallow pond.
The boy walked closer to the shallow pond. He saw a fish. It was as big as his hand. It was trying to get away from the pond because the pond was drying up.
While he was planning what he should do with this poor fish, the fish had wriggled in front of him pitifully.
He decided to take off his shirt, wet it, wrapped the fish with his shirt, and took the fish back home.
When he arrived home, he put the fish into the bowl and filled it with some water. He didn’t have any fish food at home so he fed it with some bread instead. The fish devoured his bread.
One week later, the boy forgot to fill the water into the bowl. He noticed that the fish was still alive without water, so he didn’t fill the water into the bowl anymore. He used a wet cloth to wipe the fish instead. He always fed it with bread. The fish also responded well to the boy.
