Oscillatory motion rotary engines have a rotor that
moves in an oscillatory motion. The most well known
rotary engine of this type is the Wankel engine. Two
early patents describe the initial Wankel engine and an
initial sealing arrangement for the Wankel engine
[62,63]. Many patents were issued to those working on
the Wankel engine with several showing an improved
Wankel sealing arrangement [64,65]. Another patent by
Ernest et al. describes an improved cooling system for
the Wankel engine [66]. One patent by Wankel covering
the ignition describes an improved spark location for his
engine [67]. Other modifications and improvements with
