A minimum target today in order to backhaul
Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP)
Long Term Evolution (LTE) small cells is somewhere
in the region of 50 Mb/s; however, where
feasible, 150 Mb/s and above is desirable in
order to support peak rates [3]. These numbers
are expected to increase as traffic continues to
grow, and additional spectra for small cells
become available. Small cell access points may
not only support multiple 3GPP technologies
(e.g., High Speed Packet Access [HSPA] and
LTE), but also Wi-Fi, which combined further
increase the need for backhaul capacity.
