04:24: In Malaysia, many newspapers have switched to black and white to show their grief for the missing flight, the BBC's Jennifer Pak in Kuala Lumpur reports. A press conference is expected later today which may give more information about what evidence led officials to conclude the flight is lost, our correspondent adds.
04:20: Mr Truss added that Australian navy ship HMAS Success had not been able to see or recover any of the suspected debris. "Not a lot of progress has been made overnight and unfortunately there will be little capacity to search today and perhaps even into tomorrow."
04:16: Monday's announcement came after both Australian and Chinese air force crews reported spotting possible debris in the search area. On Tuesday, Australia's Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss the sightings were "thought to have some relevance to the search".
