Our results ought to be interpreted with some caution
since the response rate was 60.4%. Despite this, we
assume that our result could be generalized to adolescents
in grade three in Swedish high schools, since the
study was made on a representative national sample. We
have reason to believe that the differences between the
index group and reference group would have been greater
if we had been able to include the adolescents that did
not participate in the study. It could be speculated that
the adolescents that chose not to participate in the study
saw, to a greater extent, the subject as too sensitive for
personal experiences of different kinds. Furthermore, the
possibility that there are adolescents that are simply not
willing to participate in the study due to lack of interest
should not be disregarded. We also have reason to believe
that the 10% of the adolescents not enrolled in the
Swedish high school system contains adolescents that are
more exposed to psychosocial risks and therefore also
includes adolescents who have sold sex.
