According to ICMSF the end product of fresh and fresh-cut vegetables is unsatisfactory when E. coli exceeds 102 cfu/g (ICMSF, 2011), as also the guidelines described by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) for ready-to-eat food placed on the market (b20 cfu/g satisfactory; 20– ≤ 102 cfu/g borderline; N102 cfu/g unsatisfactory)
