The top four areas of responsibility relate to what are typically regarded as
logistics/distribution activities: warehousing, inventory control, distribution, and
transportation. Supply chain/business analysis and planning activities such as
quality management (including control and improvement) and production planning
and scheduling are important areas of responsibility from an organizational, tactical
perspective. Inventory control and warehousing each continue to be a key
focus, as they are critical to the success or failure of many supply chains.
