After taking the "Wellness Lifestyle Assessment" I was able to gather a lot of valuable insight into my personal wellness. Overall, my score was good, but I did see a few key areas on which could be improved upon. Regarding my physical health, the area I need to focus on the most is giving up sugar- I love my sweets! My love of all things sugary is my greatest hurdle in getting healthy and losing weight. My biggest obstacle in giving it up is the cravings, it is definitely an addiction, and the process is similar to that of a smoker giving up cigarettes. I have heard giving up sugar cold turkey is the best way to go, struggle it out and get it out of your system. That may be what I need to do because I do try to limit myself but still have to have something sweet.
Other areas of my wellness I need to work on is budgeting and time management. Create budgets and a schedule for myself, that I must stick to, will benefit me greatly because I will get more done and help me start saving and planning for my future. These are things I already do, but do not always stick to. I sometimes give in to temptations, spend more than I need to or not get everything done I need to in a day. My biggest obstacles I face with both of these is my impulses, because I already do budget and create to-do lists, this is not a new habit I need to create. What I do need to do is hold myself accountable and stick to them. I am sometimes tempted to say, get out of class and go out to eat or go shopping instead of going home to work on homework. What I need to do is save them as incentives, or as the books calls them "bribes" and use these as rewards for completing my work and other required tasks
