document the response to selection for yield under drought
stress in upland rice, and there have been no reports on the
effectiveness and response of selection for yield under lowland
drought-stress conditions, possibility of combining high-yield
potential and drought tolerance, appropriate level of stress to be
applied in upland and lowland reproductive stage drought
screens and effect of using drought-tolerant donors in obtaining
high frequency of progenies with high yielding and drought
tolerance from segregating popuations.
