The essential oils of many Lippia spp. are well known for their antimicrobial properties. This, however, is the first report on the antifungal potential of the oil of L. scaberrima against the fruit pathogens C.gloeosporioides and B. parva. Compounds that have the potential to control postharvest diseases on strawberries and tomatoes while maintaining postharvest quality have been isolated from essential oils.
