Skeletal anomalies of adult A. fasciatus were grouped into 13
categories that described abnormalities on spines, vertebrae arcs
and mandibles. A total of 1025 anomalies were observed: 460 in
the vertebrae, 478 in the spines, 73 in the arcs and 14 in mandibles.
The number of anomalies recorded in normal fish was 31 (3.02%)
and 994 in deformed fish (96.97%). The most common abnormalities
described are shown in Fig. 2. The frequencies of fish affected
with different skeletal anomalies are reported in Table 2.
