Five Styles of Dealing with Conflict
Compromise; These individuals recognize that others have different needs and try to solve conflicts through compromise. Unfortunately, they may use manipulation and misrepresentation to further their own goals, so compromise isn’t always the best solution
Integration; These individuals try to resolve conflict by finding solutions to please both partners. They don’t criticize the other person, they try to be open, and they emphasize similarities rather than differences
Perhaps the best way to resolve relationship conflicts is to try to be as much of an integrator as possible because this style avoids criticism and has the best chance of pleasing both individuals (B.K. William& Knight, 1994)
