The use of a composite preservative system containing tetra methyl thiuram disulphide (TMTD) and zinc oxide (ZnO) to keep the field latex in fluid condition for several days with no rise in volatile fatty acids has been described + by John, et al. Further work was done during the past one year to exploit this invention commercially in the production of latex concentrate. The present work using TMTD/ZnO preservative system reveals that there is no difficulty in implementing the new + preservative system commercially and that the use of such a preservative system has no ill effect on the properties of the concentrate. Factory foam trials using this preservative system for latex concentrate have produced satisfactory results. + Commercial production of both high and low ammonia latex concentrate has been initiated and the early indication is that it has been well accepted by consumers.
