After an overnight fast, participants arrived at the
Clinical Research Center (CRC). Their vital signs and weight
were recorded and they rested for 30 min. During this time an
intravenous catheter was inserted into the medial cubital vein in
the left or right arm and, to assure adequate glycogen stores,a dietary record was assessed for intake of at least 150 g of
carbohdyrates in each of the previous 3 days.
