TACOMA, Wash. - The Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier accused of a violent crime spree in a Lakewood neighborhood last week pleaded not guilty to six charges Monday.
Army Specialist Jesse Suhanec was charged with first and second degree assault, attempted burglary and three counts of attempted robbery.
Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist said Suhanec's motive is unknown.
Lindquist said it appeared Suhanec picked his shooting victim at random in what appears to be an attempt to steal the man's truck.
Following the shooting Suhanec is accused of trying to break into homes and steal other people's cars.
Sarah Ramey is one of the alleged victims.
She said the 22-year-old Suhanec appeared scared when he held a gun to her head, threatening to kill her if she didn't give him her car keys.
When she stuttered and said she didn't have any, she said Suhanec went to the neighbor's house.
"I hope he gets help," said Ramey.
