The histopathological analysis confirmed the clinical
diagnosis. The mucoceles presented as cavity partially
filled or not by an amorphous material similar to mucus,
surrounded by a fibrous connective tissue, infiltrated by
chronic inflammatory cells, and covered with a stratified
squamous epithelium. In some cases, fragments of mucous
gland with dilated ducts were seen. Fibromas presented as
a fibrous connective tissue containing fibroblasts with a
few chronic inflammatory cells, surrounded by an atrophic
parakeratinized squamous epithelium.
