Prior to the hurricane, students had been assigned a term paper, requiring use of EBSCOhost, :4 business research database. I encouraged them to continue their research and to communicate with me. There began a steady flow of communication between me and my students. Rough drafts of research papers passed between the students and me. Students read lectures on Blackboard. Other instructors were also using
Blackboard to keep in touch with their students. The semester was ultimately completed, although later than usual, and only 8 percent of the student population failed to complete the semester.
