Network interface layer protocol is responsible for laying
the network frames over the network media used. TCP!IP can
work with many transport technologies, ranging from
transport technologies in the LAN (such as Ethernet and
Token Ring), MAN and WAN (such as dial-up modems that
run on top of the Public Switched Telephone Network
(PSTN), Integrated Services Digital network (ISDN), and
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM)).
