iven that detailed valuation estimates of specific wetlands projects are extremely costly and time-consuming, it is tempting to use estimated values generated at one location and apply them to another location, a process called benefits transfer. However, the use of benefits transfer methods for wetlands is questionable given the range of values for ecosystem and human services shown in the literature and the sitespecific nature of many values. There remains a need for well-implemented, site-specific research to determine both functions and values of wetland systems.
