Based on the ethno botanical and pharmacological reports presented above, we postulate that the polar extracts of T. cordifolia roots could have protective activities on the renal system. In order to test this hypothesis, the present investigation was conducted in-vivo studies, in normal and cisplatin induced albino rats. The nephroprotector activity of ethanolic extracts of roots of T. cordifolia was evaluated following a biochemical and histological approach. The antioxidant potential of the extract was evaluated in-vitro to support the nephroprotector activity.
