There are many reasons as to why euthanasia is viewed as a wrongful act that should never be permitted. Many are concern that although with the medical technological advances we have nowadays, there is no guarantee that the diagnoses and prognoses would always be right. This may result in many lives being loss in vain. There is also a concern that the society will now view the terminally ill and elderly as unneeded and thus, pressure every single individual in the category to perform euthanasia. This could result in developing the mindset of building a ‘utopia’ in the future society where only the strong and healthy are allowed to live.
Aside from these concerns, there is also the legal concern if euthanasia were to be legalized:
“A law legalizing might well be abused, with some person’s life being ended against his or her consent for a motive other than mercy…Doctors generally strive to preserve life with all their skills. They are very comfortable with death. Doctor’s fees depend on treating live patients, so there is no economic reason to abuse this purposed law. (Cundiff, 1992)[5]
