Evidence for reversed or reciprocal relations would necessitate
further ERI theorizing as to the specific underlying
mechanisms that could explain such effects. Practically, as
the ERI model assumes that the causal flow is uni-directional,
there is reason to believe that some of the observed
health problems may have their roots in the properties of
the job itself. Therefore, restructuring jobs or workplaces
may be a useful starting-point for interventions.
