• Preparation
Clean all glass – and plastic – ware with a brush and a detergent solution followed by a thorough rinse with water. The detergent must be stringently tested for phosphate. Glassware used for the colour development should be reserved exclusively for phosphate determination.
The blue phosphomolybdic complex, being a colloid, has a tendency to stick as a thin film on the walls of a cuvette. This film can be removed by rinsing with dilute sodium or potassium hydroxide solution followed by a thorough rinse with water.
