Handicrafts
Weaving is a historical Mexican craft, with the oldest fragments of indigenous fabrics dating back to between 900 and 200 BC. Woven on back strap looms still in use by Amerindian women, these Pre-Conquest fabrics were made from fibers such as bark, agave and cotton. Embroidery is also a traditional handicraft; blouses, dresses and shirts decorated with traditional patterns are sold in markets throughout Mexico and prized by tourists.
