data analyses in pharmacological and biomedical
fields [8-l@]. In the pharmacokinetic field,
Shumaker et al. (1 I] offered a spreadsheet (Lo,tus
123@) template, ABSPLOTS, to calculate drug
absorption rates in multicompartment systems;
this ‘was probably the first spreadsheet reported
for pharmacokinetic calculation. Most recently,
Delboy [12] reported a non-linear fitting program
with Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. However, there
have been no Excel macro programs available for
non-compartmental pharmacokinetic analyses, at
least on a publication basis. Therefore, we
developed a package of useful macro programs
(named X-MOMENT) to automatically
calculate non-compartmental pharmacokinetic
parameters on Excel spreadsheets.
2, Camputational methods and theory
The
analysis can be significantly time-saving. In addition,
users can take advantage of the capabilities
and user-friendly interface of Excel for further
processing (e.g., statistics and graphic display) of
the results. For these reasons, Excel macros have
been recently developed to perform automatic
