The four remaining bears from the temple we visited 2 weeks ago have been rescued and moved! They were taken yesterday to a government facility for bears where we will be able to provide help for improvements if that is found necessary. As the bears had been officially confiscated and our rescue center is full for bears there was no other option than this, we are however sure they will be under good care under the DNP (Department of National Parks) from now on. On Tuesday our team will visit the bears and we plan to hand over a donation to this center in support of the care of the bears. WFFT will "adopt" the four bears, providing funds for the food and care, this is made possible as so many people have donated in the last 2 weeks towards the rescue of these bears.
The four bears are 4 left out of 6 that were kept for the last 8 years at a temple in Prachuapkhirikan province. Two other bears died recently, which resulted in our campaign to have the remaining 4 bears rescued as soon as possible.
On the photos hereunder we see the bears in their old cages, being taken out by DNP wildlife rescue team, with a bit of help of WFFT staff.
