Abstract—This paper presents a design and application of
sliding mode control (SMC) scheme for the robust speed
control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM)
subjected to system parameter and load variations. A
linearized model of a PMSM is derived and conventional
proportional-integral-derivative (PID) and SMC speed
controller are designed respectively. An effective algorithm is
implemented on DSP TMS320F28335 and some experimental
results and comparisons are given to show the control
performance, especially the robustness.
