Traditionally, women prepare the krayasart ingredients and men do the stirring in the big pan. Starting from putting sugarcane juice into the big pan until the cutting into small pieces would take about 3-4 hours. Adding 3-4 hours to make another batch, some krayasart makers start very early in the morning and may work until evening before they are done. Some neighbors would come to help out in this group activity, bringing at least 10-20 liters of sugarcane juice from each family, depending on their demands. These activities gather people from the young to the elderly, so the neighborhood creates a close relationship among everyone, showing their goodwill and respect for each other in their proud community.
