A farmer offring a produce CSA, for example, would need
to identiy varietis with desirable traits, including the
length of the growing season, and incorporate successionplantig techniques to provide fresh produce for the
duratin of the CSA period. Many CSA producers use some
season-extension methods, such as row covers and succes-
sion plantigs, to provide products earlier or later than can
be done using traditinal productin methods in the local
area. It is not uncommon for farmers to begin their CSA
program by offring shares that include the typical local
growing season and then move into offring longer shares
in subsequent seasons as they gain more experience.
