In the last four decades, both industrial and academic researchers
have focused their efforts to design and develop chemicals
able to prevent the combustion of polymers or at least to delay
the spread of fire after ignition. The most efficient flame retardants
(FRs) have been identified as those containing halogens and
halogen-based derivatives, phosphorus, nitrogen, aluminium and
magnesium, boron, antimony, molybdenum, or recently developed
nanofillers [1].
