4. Discussion
The production of high-titered specific anti-
CBV and anti-YHV polyclonal sera enabled the
development of a WB protocol which could detect
two highly virulent and infectious penaeid viral
pathogens (YHV and CBV). The protocol was
able to demonstrate the presence of specific viralproteins in the hemolymph of experimentally infected
animals as early as 2 days p.i. and at least
1 day before clinical symptoms of the disease
appeared.
