The CVB brings business to the following sectors: transportation,
hotels and motels, restaurants, attractions and suppliers. It represents
local businesses by acting as the sales team for the city. The major role
of the CVB is to promote travel and tourism so that the tourism
dependents, hospitality and travel firms can reap the benefit. In order
to fulfill their role, the CVBs have to compete in their sector to bring
business to the respective cities. As this sector has grown so too has
the competition. All destinations are competing for the same limited
consumer dollars. Therefore, each CVB has to develop marketing
strategies that would give it a competitive edge. One way to accomplish this is to provide meaningful supplementary services, which add
value to their core services.
