Lync is a favorite tool for many of us. Chat, Audio and Video conferencing, as well as exchanging information, all enhance our communication and collaboration with colleagues and external partners.
So that we can provide state-of-the-art features and improved usability to all employees, Bayer has decided to keep the standard MS Office software packages and platforms close to the latest releases. The first platform to be upgraded is Lync. The roll-out in Thailand will take place in the week of February 16th to February 20th. Many new and interesting features are waiting to be discovered – join us in finding out the ones that suit us best.
Technically, everything is in place and well prepared for. We will need your support to upgrade Lync on your computer. By end of March all Bayer employees globally should then have received the new Lync 2013 client.
Your active support is needed to ensure a smooth installation
The installation files will be downloaded in the background to your PC or laptop to optimally prepare the installation of Lync – and then it’s your turn.
Once the download is completed, a pop-up window will ask you to allow the installation. You need to close Lync and CUCiLYNC during the installation. Lync 2010 will be uninstalled as soon as the Lync 2013 installation is successful. The installation will take approximately 10 to 30 minutes. After the installation you need to reboot your PC/laptop – which means you have to close all applications, shut down your PC/laptop, and start it again afterwards.
Only a few steps are necessary to complete the installation process. Lync 2013 needs to create its offline address book after installation and this will take approximately 1 hour. In addition, the new CUCiLYNC client, which enables the connection between your IP telephone and Lync, requires you to enter your CWID and your Windows password the first time you log in after the installation. You also have the option of activating the automatic login checkbox.
