Risk Appetite is the term used to describe the extent to which an organization is willing to take risks. Some organizations are very risk averse, taking only small, manageable risks. Others have a much greater risk tolerance and are willing to assume substantial risks in return for the opportunity of substantial profit. Organizations need to clearly define their risk appetite before people can participate in effective objective setting.
