Stiffer fines and implementing demerit points will help to deter motorists from committing traffic offences. However, people will just find a way round it through corruption. Until bribing is overcome, the problem will continue to persist. Therefore the government will need to enforce the law strictly. Road users will try to bribe in order to avoid the fine, but if corruption is not tolerated and disdained, then traffic violations will be reduced. Consequently, roads will be a safer place for both drivers and pedestrians. It is not an easy fix in implementing these rules but if everyone plays a role in being responsible and respecting each other, then the road will be much safer place.
