2.4.1 Adaptive Cruise Control System
A system was designed to help drivers maintain a
safe distance between vehicles. The system uses radar sensors
to measure the distance of vehicles in front and automatically
controls the speed to maintain that distance continually.
Volvo has developed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), the
ACC functions are controlled by the driver’s cruise control,
it is able to control the speed between 30 – 200 km/hr and
choose different interval times to the front car. When the speed
of the front car changes, the system will adjust the speed
automatically to maintain the gap between the two cars
continually [20].
