Teacher ratings of conflict resolution skills were assessed from an adaptation of the Friendship
Quality Questionnaire (FQQ; Parker & Asher, 1993). Originally, the FQQ was a peer-completed measure
assessing a child’s behaviors within a dyadic friendship. In the current study, the 3 items from the conflict
resolution skills subscale were completed by teachers to assess the child’s overall use of conflict
resolution skills with peers in his or her classroom. These items were ‘‘makes up easily when they have
a fight,’’ ‘‘gets over arguments with peers quickly,’’ and ‘‘talks about how to get over being mad with
peers.’’ Items were rated on a scale of 1 (not at all) to 5 (really true). To ease interpretability, items
were reverse scored and a mean score was computed, with higher scores indicating greater skill deficits.
In the current study, Cronbach’s alpha was .86.
