Next Steps/ Questions to Answer
1. Determine the step in the TAB-A process where performance loss occurs. Is it the final blending step or is it the final compression step?
a. Compare isotherms of MN1407, MN1404, MN1400 & MN1398 samples (Test Request #2016-007404). Samples need to be submitted.
2. Identify variables and impact of variables from process steps (depends on results of Question 1)
a. If the loss occurs at blending step, how does blending time affect performance? What other variables to check?
b. If it the loss occurs at compression step, how does compression force affect performance? What other variables to check?
3. Verify impact of K2CO3 in blended tablets with standard formula (EN186 with K2CO3) + (EN115 without K2CO3)
a. Compare following tablets (this may require new mixtures). Same setup and process variables as previous trial.
i. EN186 Tablet (with 2.5% K2CO3)
ii. EN115 Tablet (Without K2CO3)
iii. Blended EN186/EN115 Tablet (EN186 with 2.5% K2CO3 and EN115 without K2CO3)
iv. Blended EN186/EN115 Tablet (EN186 without K2CO3, and EN115 without K2CO3 )
b. A minimum of the above four samples are recommended, but more samples can be made to investigate process variables (This relates to Question 1 & Question 2. Only blended tablets, no need to investigate single adsorbent tablets)
i. For example: Three different compression forces (Normal force from last trial, the lowest force to make tablet, and a reasonable high force (2-3 times the normal force?)) Then compare Isotherms and densities of each tablet to determine effect of variable.
