To date, there is no consensus in the literature regarding the most appropriate time for assessing the seed germination test with this crop. According to Martins et al. (2008), the first count and the final count of germination in physic nut seeds should be performed at 5 and 10 days after sowing, respectively. Similar results were found by Silva et al. (2008) who recommended using the temperature of 30 oC, on paper roll, with final count at 10 days after sowing, while Neves et al. (2009) indicated the 10th and 15th days are suitable for the first and final count of the germination test. The results obtained in this study showed that evaluations of the test must be made at 7 and 12 days after sowing, since there was stabilization of scores from the 12th day, and there was increased occurrence of microorganisms with the seedlings remaining on the paper roll for a few more days.
